Sorry to ressurect an old post, but the easiest way I've found to locate either Maxine or Harn is to go north through the drider paths from Camp Emberlight, then hug the island perimeter going clockwise. The reason this works is because Maxine and Harn always walk the same path counterclockwise. As a result, you'll meet them somewhere in the middle, usually on the northern half of the island. I found Maxine this way after 2 tries.

You could also take the right path the hydras take, go past the groups of dryders, past a group of golems, and a Coldstone should be right there. However, if you're not quick to get their attention, they'll run off into more dryders and golems, possible a few drakes as well.

Whenever I go out to cap "quick shot", Maxine never spawns (happens to everyone...I know)...I would say she spawns 40% of the time...I see the ele wanderer guy 3 out of every 5 times I go out in perdition...Just keep looking and remeber...clockwise is your friend (or is it counterclockwise?..dont remember details like that..)....I love quickshot....great skill. When used in conjuction with 2 other specific skills, you throw an arrow downrange every second (seems like it at least)...

He or she moves counter-clockwise, starting only when you're in range.

The spawn chance is 50/50 i was lucky and get maxine first try.I just went left to the flame spitter type creatures then to the drakes and she was there.Ctrl helped just holding it down to look for her name.

Oh boy you would be creaming your pants if you capped it right now... its the staple of many ranger damage based skill bars. (I request a slight buff to it for the update :P )

I very much wanted Obsidian Flesh.

So in my case, it was Maxine that spawned more often.

BTW, I think of "Maxine" as being a female name.

Maxine is indeed a pain to capture. My only advice is to fight up to where you would first see her spawn location, and if she does spawn, she will walk counter-clockwise around the island. So just wait for her near the zone at Ember, she will eventually make her way there.

I was helping guildies the other night cap on Perdition Rock. I noticed that Maxine is the only boss that doesnt stay in a spawn area. the rest stay in their respective spots. We chased Maxine 1/2 across the island. We would see her but we would have to take out a mob first. After taking care of the mob she would be gone. So we would adventure on. Come across her again. Finally I think we eliminated everything but the white mantle, it seems like, before we finally caught up with her alone and got to cap the elite skill.

I just went through Perdition 6 times. Beginning to get boring, but she just won't ever spawn. Always Harn Coldstone (and he's getting punished for it every time).

And to top it off Harn doesn't stop to put spirits up so I waited 40mins for him to finish his little tour around the island when it turned out that he had gotten stuck near the drakes.

Ah well Obs flesh was well worth it.

Those two always take off counter clockwise, its a lot easier if you head back the other direction and meet them as they approach you. Otherewise you will end up chasing them thru mobs,, and like the above poster statewd when you clear the mob, they are gone. WIKI has the path they walk and if you just go the opposite direction once they spawn(they have to spawn of course and for this you must get in range of them, or no spawn), so go in the opposite direction rather than trying to follow them, and its a lot easier. Use CTRL so you can see em coming. Took ages to figure this out on my own, but I finally got QS, not that I use it much, and I sure aint creaming my pants, never really been much for FOTW builds, but I dont PVP a lot, probably why, too many people trying to tell you how to play, when most of em suck balls

It always seems to be the case... Whenever I go out to cap an elite skill, be it obsidian flesh or quickshot or others, the boss that I want never spawns. Murphy's law is quite annoying. But I have always wondered about something...

What in the world is Maxine and Harn doing in Perdition Rocks, Isn't it suppose to the most inhospitable place in tyria? You know...with the huge mobs of mahgo hydras and stuff. The fact that they are in perdition rocks never made much sense to me...
